Cake
NOM NOM. Our cake is included in our catering package, and apparently they can custom make it as long as we give them an inspiration picture (some inspiration shots below, just picture them in our colors: aqua and purple). I'm not sure if we're allowed to have multiple flavor combos (e.g., different layers for each tier), but if we are, I'd like to do: coconut sponge cake with lemon cream and fresh raspberry filling, red velvet cake with cream cheese filling, and vanilla sponge cake with a bavarian cream and fresh strawberry filling.
Favors
In lieu of traditional favors, FI and I are planning to make a donation to a charity that means something to us (currently we're thinking ASPCA as we're huge animal people and it breaks our hearts to see those commercials with the abused cats and dogs on TV)) and just leaving small, business-card sized handouts at each guest's seat explaining that.
Yes, the brides on the Favors board already bit my head off about this and were SUPER bitchy about it, but I really don't care (if you've got negative feedback about this too-- please, spare me.) I'm trying to put myself in my guests' shoes, and if I were a wedding guest, I think it would be lovely to see a touch of the bride and grooms' personalities reflected via a charity donation instead of a souvenier shot glass that I'll likely forget to bring home with me.
