The Palm Foyer in the Mandalay Bay
Ah, the reception spot. We wanted to keep things simple for our guests and just have a ballroom reception at the Mandalay Bay, but our Catering contact introduced us to the Palm Foyer space and we fell in love. Unfortunately, the earliest we can book is 9 months out, but we're on it like white on rice and will be picking up the phone at the open of the business day on 8/19/11 to make sure we get our reservation in. The Palm Foyer is a neat space-- very open, and has floor-to-ceiling windows on one side that overlook the MB pools and a bit of the strip.
Unfortunately, there's a possibility that even if we book the Palm Foyer, we may get moved to a regular ballroom (picture below) in the Mandalay Bay if a convention is in-house the day of the wedding and they request the foyer space. Our Catering contact said he's never had to move someone out of the Foyer spot before, but I'm REALLY hoping this doesn't happen to us because the colors in the ballrooms are really hard to work with.
